Dun Laoghaire Library up for Award!

The controversial Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Lexicon building has been shortlisted for this year's Irish Architecture Awards.

The library, which opened its doors six months ago, will be facing competition in the Public Choice category from the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and the newly-restored St Mel's Cathedral in Longford.
The €36.6m seafront library attracted a variety of criticism during its construction, including public calls for it to be demolished. Others were critical of its cost during a time of economic crisis while its facade and size were also controversial.
Project architect of the DLR Lexicon, will be undoubtedly thrilled with the news from the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland.
